Skin resurfacing targets the skin to improve its quality and appearance, correcting many years of sun damage. Specifically, it can improve the appearance of fine lines, remove superficial blemishes, correct many pigment problems, and provide a smoother texture to the skin. There are a wide range of resurfacing methods available using various chemicals, lasers, or dermabrasion. Excellent results can be obtained using many of these methods.
Given that hands are routinely ignored when it comes to sunscreen, sun damage plays a big part in the "aging hand" syndrome. Sun exposure over the decades sets up a prolonged cascade of liver spots and brown patches that can keep popping up long after we've learned to stay out of the sun. Add that to the color changes brought about by the darkness of veins, and your hands can sometimes look as if they've been bruised and battered in addition to looking more skeletal.
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition in which a person sweats excessively. This condition can be extremely noticeable and embarrassing, especially when sweating from the palms, armpits, or face. To treat this condition, Dr. Hovsepian injects the affected area with a neuromuscular agent, such as Botox® Cosmetic or Dysport®. These injectables act to decrease the amount of sweat occurring in the affected area.
You Weren't Born with Skin Problems. When you are a baby, your skin is perfect. It is soft, firm and glows with health. But as you mature, usually sometime in your 30's, your skin begins to lose its ability to stay healthy. As you age collagen breaks down, skin loses its elasticity, cell turnover and the flow of moisture from deep within begins to slow. The damage gets worse from sun, stress, environmental assaults and smoking. The results may be tight, dry, blotchy, wrinkled skin with discoloration.
