Nipple and/or areola size is something that can be the source of extreme embarrassment and physical dissatisfaction. To remedy these conditions Dr. Hovsepian offers both nipple and areola reduction procedures. Even though people commonly mistake the areola (the darkened area around the nipple) and the nipple (the pigmented projection on the surface of the breast), these are actually two separate parts of the breast that require two different procedures. A Nipple Reduction is a surgical procedure developed to improve the size, shape or projection of the nipple, whereas an Areola Reduction is a procedure performed to reduce the size of the areola, usually making it more circular in the process. Begin your journey to a new you when you request your consultation online or by telephone.
Nipple Reduction surgery is performed by making small incision on the nipple as unnoticeable as possible. Excess tissue is then removed, and the skin sutured, to create the patient's desired look.
Areola Reduction surgery is performed by making an appropriately sized circular incision around the nipple. Excess areola skin is then removed, and the outer and inner circles are closed, to create the patient's desired look.
No two patients' goals and bodies are alike, so in each consultation Dr. Hovsepian will individualize his detailed technical assessment with a thorough, personal discussion of your expectations and motivations.
